Old but Gold: An Ode To Classics and Old Books

Božena Němcová: Babička

Wanna read a book about a hero who can change the world for better? Read a nice story about a magical grandma from by Božena Němcová, a great story teller whose works are captivating and take you back to simpler times.
And call your grandma, I'm sure, she'll be glad ♥️ 👵

Compulsory reading

What were/are your classics which were part of a compulsory reading?
For me, the first paper I handed was on Silas Marner by G. Eliot. A very touching story of love and greed.
Robinson Crusoe by D. Defoe and Gulliver's Travells by J. Swift were not my choice, and if I were to choose which to re-read, Gulliver was more entertaining and surely less threatening when it came to survival.
The last book, The Great Expectations by the marvelous Charles Dickens, was the most difficult to read. Neither for the language nor for the topic, however, for the strict social and cultural policies which are unbelievable.

John Habberton: Hellen's Babies

This is the story of kids, their innocence, angelic mischiefs while at the hands of young uncle. He was always crossed about their behavious and curious how their parents can sustain all the troubles his nieces and nephews get into. Only after fostering them for couple of weeks he realizes how precious the little devils can be. How the purest achievement is to please without bearing in mind the preciousness of objects they destroy: books, vases, furniture, clothes, walls, dogs, and many more.
Very cute reading for a warm summer afternoon. One of the best gifts I gave myself for my birthday almost two years ago.

Emily Bronte: Wuthering Heights

I believe there is no true book addict who does not love the smell, looks, and touch of old books.
This treasure I gain a couple of years ago during my Scotland trip in the city of Fort William in Scotland Highland. The amazing owner of the petite bookshop noticed the condition of the leather-bound, polished it, and only then handed it back. And if you pay just £1, there is nothing to be unhappy about.
I long to roam through bookshelves of bookshops, and antique books shops and wander through city streets with coffee and a good book in my hand.
